Engineering, Manufacturing, and Installation Services for Large-Scale Educational Environments | Case Study
Project Name: Shenzhen University (Xili Campus)
Duration: 2021
440,000 m² of campus space. 16 buildings. A campus-wide wayfinding system delivered within a 60-day schedule.
Shenzhen University’s Xili Campus is a large-scale education and research complex located within Shenzhen University Town. The development includes teaching buildings, laboratories, student residences, public facilities, and shared academic spaces.
To support campus operations before the opening of the new semester, Shenzhen University commissioned a complete university signage and wayfinding system covering both exterior and interior environments.
COSUN SIGN provided engineering, manufacturing, and installation services for the project.
Project Requirements
The signage system needed to serve multiple building types while maintaining a consistent standard across the campus.
The project required a coordinated signage package covering campus entrances, building identification, directional guidance, floor directories, and room identification.
All products had to be completed and installed within a 60-day delivery schedule before student occupancy.
Signage Products
Ⅰ、Illuminated Building Signs
Large illuminated channel letter signs were installed on major academic and public buildings, providing building identification and long-distance visibility across the campus during both day and night.
Ⅱ、Campus Pylon Signs
Freestanding pylon signs were positioned at campus entrances and primary circulation routes to support campus orientation and destination finding.
Ⅲ、Directional Signage
Outdoor directional signs were installed throughout the campus road and pathway network, guiding users between academic buildings, residential facilities, public amenities, and shared campus services.
Ⅳ、Building Directories
Directory signs were installed at building entrances to display floor information and departmental locations using a standardized information layout across all 16 buildings.
Ⅴ、Room Identification Signs
Room identification signs were installed across classrooms, laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, and residential facilities, creating a consistent identification system throughout the campus.
Engineering & Manufacturing
Production and installation were carried out in parallel to meet the project deadline.
The project was awarded in June 2021 and scheduled for completion before the start of the fall semester in late August.
To maintain the delivery schedule, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and installation activities were coordinated simultaneously across multiple campus zones.
Both illuminated and non-illuminated signage products were manufactured using materials selected for long-term performance in high-traffic educational environments.
All products were produced in accordance with UL and CE standards.
