A Landmark Art Installation Combining Technology, Space and Brand Culture

Located at the North Plaza of Kingsoft Software Park in Zhuhai, China, the “Brain Hole” sculpture is more than a large-scale public artwork. Standing approximately 12 meters high, the installation uses thousands of red square steel tubes to create the outline of a human head and an open internal space.

Designed by Shenzhen BZ Design Consultant Co., Ltd. and delivered with production and signage services by COSUN Sign, the project brings together art installation, sculpture, environmental design and corporate identity in one landmark feature.

The result is a striking visual symbol for Kingsoft Software and a distinctive addition to the cultural landscape along Zhuhai’s Lovers Road.

Project Overview

From Industrial Materials to Public Art

The concept of “Brain Hole” explores the relationship between insight, creativity and growth. Instead of creating a conventional figurative sculpture, the design uses an extensive network of steel tubes to form a recognizable head silhouette.

From a distance, the structure reads as a simple human profile. Up close, thousands of carefully arranged tubes reveal a much more complex spatial composition. This contrast between a simple exterior and a highly intricate interior gives the sculpture its distinctive character.

For a technology company, the visual language is particularly appropriate: industrial materials are transformed into an open, futuristic structure that suggests new ideas and possibilities.

Day-to-Night Visual Experience

One of the strongest features of the art installation is its changing appearance throughout the day.

Daytime: Framing the Surrounding Landscape

The open structure allows the surrounding environment to become part of the artwork. Visitors can look through the voids within the sculpture and see the landscape beyond, creating a constantly changing visual experience.

Nighttime: Light and Atmospheric Effects

After dark, integrated colorful lighting brings the internal steel framework to life. Combined with a fog system, the installation takes on a more dramatic and futuristic appearance, turning it into a recognizable nighttime landmark.

Visitors can also approach and move through the structure, giving the public sculpture both a strong visual presence and an interactive spatial quality.

Engineering and Production by COSUN Sign

Creating a 12.06-meter-high structure from thousands of individual tubes requires close attention to fabrication accuracy, structural coordination and surface finishing.

As the project’s production and signage partner, COSUN Sign supported the delivery of the large-scale sculpture as well as the wider Kingsoft Software Park signage system. The project called for close coordination between design, fabrication, site construction and lighting-related requirements.

The production approach focused on translating the artistic concept into a buildable structure while maintaining the intended rhythm, proportions and visual density of the original design.
