Project Name:Kimpton AQEOS HAINAN by IHG
Time: 2025
The hotel masterfully harmonizes coastal charm with laid-back luxury, employing a flexible architectural design to curate a captivating, immersive guest experience. Guided by Kimpton’s philosophy of forging an authentic sense of place, COSUN engineered a bespoke signage and wayfinding system designed to serve as an invisible thread throughout the resort’s narrative.
We moved beyond the constraints of standardized hospitality signage, translating the organic, rhythmic flow of Clear Water Bay into a cohesive visual language. By analyzing the resort’s material palette—ranging from warm, textured stone and natural wood to the interplay of coastal light—we crafted wayfinding elements that function as seamless architectural extensions.
The Execution: Merging Form and Function
We didn’t just install signs; we integrated them into the resort’s architecture.
Atmospheric Illumination: In the library and lounges, we moved away from standard lightboxes. Instead, we used edge-lit acrylic with a custom paper-textured finish to mimic the soft, diffused glow of pages—a subtle nod to the hotel’s intimate, reader-friendly vibe.
Tactile Brass Details: Throughout the gallery and elevator halls, we opted for hand-brushed brass with a random hairline finish. It’s a material that ages gracefully, cuts down on glare, and pairs perfectly with the resort’s warm-grey stone and woodwork, from hotel lobby signs to custom conference room signages.
Floor-Embedded Navigation: To keep the walls clean, we moved critical hotel wayfinding signage directly into the flooring. It’s an unconventional approach, but it keeps the sightlines clear and the focus on the resort’s curated art.
Curated Markers: We designed our directional markers to mimic easel structures. They don’t look like signs; they look like part of the resort’s art collection.
Engineering for the Coast
The tropics are notoriously hard on metal. As a leading china signage fabricator, we take a rigorous approach to ensure longevity:
PVD Vacuum Coating: We treated all metal components with PVD to prevent salt-mist corrosion and oxidation.
Nano-Matte Finishes: We applied a nano-matte protective layer over the textured surfaces, ensuring they resist stains while maintaining their natural, tactile feel.
Reliability: Every component—from hotel room number signs to hotel pylon signs—is UL/CE Certificate compliant. As an Authorized General Distributor of Rowmark in China Mainland, we ensure only the highest grade materials are used.
FAQ: Our Approach
Q: How do you handle signage in harsh coastal climates? A: We engineer for it. By using PVD-coated stainless steel and marine-grade brass, we ensure that corrosion isn’t a threat. It’s about building for the next decade, not just the next season.
Q: Does COSUN only manufacture, or do you design too? A: We do both. As a trusted signage manufacturer in China, we often step in during the design development phase to ensure that custom signage manufacturers‘ standards are met, whether for static displays or digital signage kiosk units.
Q: How do you match a hotel’s specific design language? A: We don’t use templates. We analyze the material palette—the stones, the woods, the lighting—and customize our finishings to complement the environment. We can even advise on how do digital kiosks generate profit in hotels to maximize your ROI.
